Joshua Mize

Joshua Mize, an enrolled member of the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin and a tribal descendant of the Menominee, Osage, and Quapaw Nations, embodies a deep commitment to family, community, and cultural heritage. As a devoted father to three daughters and caregiver to his nephew, he actively engages in the Native Dads Network, drawing inspiration from the principles of Fatherhood is Sacred and White Bison.

Driven by a passion for social change, Josh's journey through higher education, includes UC Davis, American River College, Sacramento City College, and Folsom Lake College, has fortified his belief in the power of collaboration. Reflecting on his own experiences as a Native student navigating the K-12 system, Josh recognizes the pervasive invisibility and systemic barriers that hinder educational attainment. Despite these challenges, he persevered and earned a bachelor's degree in Native American Studies, with a Minor in Community Development.

Now, Josh is dedicated to breaking down the entrenched barriers of systemic racism that afflict Sacramento communities. He seeks to foster collaborative initiatives aimed at transforming educational pathways from K-12 onward, empowering marginalized voices and creating a more equitable future for all.
